Pregnancy is a wonderful time, though one has to confront triumphs and challenges in this phase. 1. The first question what strikes us most is that should we take a bend or not during pregnancy! It may sound surprising but, it’s true that bending during pregnancy will not hurt your baby in any way. Nature provides a wonderful cocoon effect for the growing fetus. The amniotic fluid in the womb makes the baby stay free for moving his arms, legs, practice breathing movements and flip. It helps the baby to accommodate while the mother also changes her positions. So, bending over does not put any harm towards a baby always.
2. Though it is true that bending does not harm the baby, but when your baby grows, it will become difficult for you to bend. It may even increase your risk of tripping and may even cause other discomforts.
3. The failure of conceiving increases as the complication arises because of bending. It can increase the risk of falling or tripping. Damaging your abdomen by falling can give birth to dangerous health issues, it can cause placental separation or abruption from the uterine wall and even lead to miscarriage.
4. You may feel dizzy when you will bend during your pregnancy as such situation sends a rush of blood to the head. Dizziness can lead to a loss of balance or consciousness and injury, which may adversely affect your baby.
5. Bending can increase the stress on the stomach and can aggravate heartburn, a common health problem in late pregnancy. Bending reverses the flow of stomach acid into the oesophagus and leads to belching, also knowns as burning sensation in the food pipe and unpleasant mouth taste.
6. Due to the growing baby bump, your centre of gravity will shift during pregnancy. Bending forward and then leaning back will strain your spine and damage your weakened ligaments further during pregnancy.
7. If you have to require bending, you should keep the following things in mind. Remember to lower your knees instead of stretching your back. You should also get up slowly using your hands, thighs, and knees rather than straining the muscles of the abdomen and stomach. It will help protect your back and strengthen your legs while allowing you to perform daily activities as your pregnancy advances. While lifting an object, try to hold it under your baby bump to align it with your shifted centre of gravity.
Good posture during pregnancy involves training the body to walk, sit, lie and stand in positions where you do not feel any strain.
