Visit from ‘Aunt Flo’ in cold, worsens it.

written by She Wings 14/06/2019

There are many seasons in the world, like summer, winter, spring, and autumn, etc., but the season which keeps your period in a melancholic state to its worse is the “winter” season. As far as a general point of view is concerned, in winters, we sit at home, eat more and move less, which creates a type of havoc in the period cycle. In winters women generally, have longer periods than in summer. In winters, the body produces more melatonin and there is a quick increase in the estrogen in the woman’s body, which causes a lot more fatigue.

In winters, we drink less water, due to which our body gets dehydrated, thereby promoting more loss of energy in periods. More cramps and more PMS symptoms are prominent during winters. In winters, the intensity of pain increases, and the color of the blood gets darker and its nature becomes thick, organically. One gets highly irritated, in this case of winters. The best suggestion to follow in the case of winter is that exercise regularly and keep your atmosphere warm.

As far as the exercises are concerned, one can do light cardio with moderate weight training. Use of heater and sunbath is definitely a good idea to counter periods, during the winter season. The food items that one should consume during winters are banana, yogurt, green leafy vegetables, and salmon, etc.

So if you consider proper exercise and proper nutrition, as your swords and shield, respectively, you can easily win in the red badge of courage with a great sense of calmness.

About Us

SheWings is a social movement to spread awareness about menstrual health among homeless, low income women and teens. Menstruation is a natural process. However, in most parts of the country it remains a taboo and is rarely talked about. We believe that no one should go without menstrual hygiene. We are a social enterprise to break the taboo about menstruation. We don’t need to speak in ‘low tones’ about menstruation. Let’s make as much noise as we can!
