Generally, it is told that spicy foods are not good for both baby and its mother health. But, recently we have discussed that it is not true entirely. There are some spices that can be used during pregnancy and definitely, it is good for health. We can’t deny the contribution of spices in our cooking. But, during pregnancy what we should keep in mind that what spices we should apply in our cooking and what is not. Undoubtedly, all spices are not good for health and during pregnancy, some of the spices definitely matter most. It will be better to stop applying in the food or keep away it from your kitchen during that special time for your special care.
Below is given a list of spices which should not be used during pregnancy:
Fenugreek seeds have a stimulant effect on the uterus and, therefore, are not advisable for pregnant women. Also, ingesting seeds through mouth could cause bloating, gas trouble and diarrhoea. A high dose of fenugreek seeds could cause growth retardation in children.
A daily spice used in every household, it should be avoided during pregnancy as it may lead to miscarriage. It works as a contraceptive and could also result in blood loss.
Garlic contains some potent and potentially toxic substance that is not advisable for a pregnant woman. Also, if taken in a large amount, it could cause heartburn and bleeding as well.
This spice contains the substance which could cause thinning of blood and hence is not advisable in pregnancy.
Peppermint tea relaxes the uterus, and this could cause a miscarriage. Also, applying peppermint oil during pregnancy can trigger menstruation hence be extra cautious before using peppermint in any form. From the list, you now know that there are herbs and spices to avoid during pregnancy.
