written by She Wings 09/03/2019
Pre-Pregnancy Preparation Requires Proper and Healthy Diet

Having pregnancy is an awesome feeling for every couple. Undoubtedly, such feeling for pregnancy is different for everyone. You are completely unaware of what is coming to you and what phase you will have to undergo. Still, you are willing to accept the new with lots of excitement. Yes, this is the time when you are ready to become a parent.

Despite lots of attempts, you become failure to have the pregnancy. You and your partner talk about having a baby, but repeatedly you both are going to fail to execute it just now. If you plan to get pregnant within the next few months, it is vital to bring some changes in your lifestyle and diet that can gear up your pre-pregnancy phase. Proper and healthy diet can boost up your factors of fertility and prepare your body for a baby.

Here is some diet and food categories are given below that can bring a positive outcome for your pregnancy. So, do not late and include such diet in your daily routine to welcome and enjoy a new moment; a moment of new parenting.

1. Folic Acid

According to Palinski-Wade, RD, author of “The Belly Fat Diet for Dummies”, “If you plan on getting pregnant any time in the next year you want to make sure your diet is rich in folic acid and that you’re proactive about that now.” One can take a parental vitamin, supplement, and increase the capacity of taking of folic acid-rich foods by means of fortified whole grains, fortified cereals, vegetables, and citrus fruits. One should be taking in 400-600 mg of folic acid daily before pregnancy and about 800 mg during pregnancy for a healthier pregnancy and to minimize the risk of birth problems.

2. Fatty Acids

Palinski-Wade has opined that when you get pregnant, take omega-3s which are great for the baby’s brain development. It will be very good if one can include the fatty acid in the diet as they’re excellent for the body now. The body requires the healthy fats in order to keep hormones functioning properly. This process will be helpful for getting pregnant in the coming months. Omega-3 fatty acids are much helpful in the diet each day. Fishes are in rich for omega-3. Besides fishes, one can consume it by dint of flax seeds and chia seeds are great in smoothies, yoghurt, on salads, or make a trail mix with whole grain cereal, dried fruit and flax seeds. You can use flaxseed oil or chia seed oil in the cooking.

3. Dairy

The dairy product is always good for health is known to all if it suits your body. Dairy products are essential to get ready your body for being pregnant as dairy products contain calcium and protein. You can take full-fat one skim milk in order to enhance the chances of getting pregnant. According to the New York Times Article, women who are consuming a full-fat milk each day decrease the chances of certain kind of infertility. But, Palinski-Wade opines that like high fat, you can take the dairy products of low fat while high full fat becomes indigestible for you. “Try to get a little fat from dairy to get more of those essential nutrients that will help prepare your body for a baby,” she said.

4. High-Quality Proteins

“High-quality proteins in your diet are important for fertility. Make sure you’re getting a complete protein that has all the essential amino acids,” opines Palinski-wade. ” whole eggs and egg whites are excellent sources, as are white meat poultry, and fish, especially those rich in omega-3 fatty acids. If you’re a vegetarian, beans and legumes are healthy protein sources which are also rich in iron, another essential nutrient,” she added. If any vegetarian likes to take any soy products, Palinski-Wade recommends to stick with whole soy products but not with the over processed as the processed versions tend to be higher in sodium and not as healthy for you overall.

5. Fruits and Veggies

Start to take fruits and vegetables in your daily dish. Adding fruits and vegetables to your daily meals indicates a good practice that helps in preparing your body for a baby. Practice makes perfect. So, when you will be habituated with it, during the days of pregnancy you will not be confronted with any kinds of problems regarding foods. Palinski says that you may want these types of foods more and more every day during your food cravings. Undoubtedly, fruits and vegetables contain a rich and essential nutrients and antioxidants which help to reduce the inflammation in the body.

Overall, preparing a body for a baby is high time and for this bring changeability is necessary for your diet. Stop taking junk food, high sugar absorbed foods which can influence your belly fat. It is well known that overweight and suddenly losing weight have a bad impact on the fertility. So, when you will try to lose your weight, try it gradually but don’t try to lose more than one pound in a week. Any kinds of sudden changes can affect another life which a body can’t support. “You want to make sure your body is as healthy as possible going into pregnancy to ensure you and your baby are healthy throughout,” says Palinski-Wade.

About Us

SheWings is a social movement to spread awareness about menstrual health among homeless, low income women and teens. Menstruation is a natural process. However, in most parts of the country it remains a taboo and is rarely talked about. We believe that no one should go without menstrual hygiene. We are a social enterprise to break the taboo about menstruation. We don’t need to speak in ‘low tones’ about menstruation. Let’s make as much noise as we can!
