Menstruation is the process of discharging blood every month at a proper interval of time. This is a natural cycle in every woman either she is working or a housewife, but periods create barriers for the working women and teenage girls due to unbearable pain.
According to the research published in the ‘British Medical Journal,’ it is being found that around 26,000 women lose nine full days of productivity in a year at school or in any workplace due to period cramps and related menstrual symptoms cause.
Women aged 15-45 reported lower productivity on more than 23 days a year, which result in an annual loss of productivity of 9 days, per women per year. One in seven women took leave from school or work during their periods, study claimed.
Because of period symptoms 80% of women suffer negative impact on quality of their work, and now by considering these problems some of the companies now offering paid menstrual leave for women suffering debilitating period pain, so that productive work can take place.
