But mental illness is one thing that people still do not feel comfortable talking about in the open.
Now, the app can cure to a certain extent such depression.Ā 29-year-old depression survivor, Kaushal Prakash has launched a boyfriend rental app to help people battle depression.
The app, which is called Rent A Boyfriend (RABF) which was launched in Mumbai on 24th August 2018, reported DNA.Ā The app’s features alsoĀ promise a service which will be “purely platonic in nature,” a helpline and will allow people to have one-on-one conversations with psychiatrists for 15-20 minutes at ā¹500.Ā
Prakash’s idea behind providing phone calls with psychiatrists is based on the stigma of “log kya kahenge” around mental illness in India, he explained.
However, strangely enough, theĀ boyfriendĀ candidates are required to just be 10th or 12th standard graduates to be able to take on the task of providing emotional support to the needy.Ā DNA quoted Prakash as saying, “I have all A-grade models.” RABF finalised the candidates after choosing them from auditions in Mumbai and Pune, based on their looks and communication skills.Ā These candidates were also checked for criminal records.
“You can rent a celebrity for Rs 3,000, or a model for up to Rs 2,000, or an aam aadmi (commoner) for just Rs 300-400 per hour,” said Prakash. He also clarified that 70 per cent of the earning is transferred to the boyfriends.
