- Having periods from the Nose
You don’t need to get scared of this; this scientific phenomenon is called ‘vicarious menstruation’. This is a situation where blood flows from other parts instead of the vagina like nose, eyes and even from lungs. This occurs when the blood capillaries get soften during the menstruation. This is a very rare type of periods which is seen in only 2 out of 100 people.

During periods you might have noticed a lot of changes in your body but one of the less known changes occurs in your vocals. Female reproductive hormones are responsible for creating a problem in your vocal cords by altering your voice.
- You bleed less than what you think
Usually, women think that during periods they bleed a lot but the truth is they bleed less than what they think. The average amount of blood women loose during periods is 4 to 5 tablespoons of blood.
- Clots are the results of contractions
Women witness discharge of blood clots from their vagina during menstruation. These clots are the result of cramps when the uterus contracts. This leads to the clotting of blood which is completely normal during your monthly cycle.
- Walt Disney’s movie on menstruation
Walt Disney also contributed to making people aware of menstruation. In 1946, he made an animated movie ‘The Story of Menstruation’ which is considered to the first film to use the word “vagina”.
